I come from a small town in New Zealand called Whakatane. Being interested in caring for others and in how others view the world led me to Waikato University with the intention of studying clinical psychology but anthropology and sociology captured my interest and involved less training of rats, calculations of deviations from the norm and recording the feeding schedules of cows. I completed my Masters in Social Sciences and then focused on skiing, climbing, snowboarding and surfing for the next four years until the itch of psychology needed to be scratched again.  Another Masters Degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology from Canterbury University led to registration and practice as a psychologist. Since then I have practised in a range of areas; general counselling, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, relationships and sexuality, forensic issues, assessments, employee assistance, head injury recovery and all points in between. Along with working with individuals I also consult in organisations, developing programmes and providing advice.
